From Sweden we run two concrete programs — a weekly meal distribution for the homeless here at home, and a growing effort to support education, health and social care in and around San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Meal distribution in Sweden
Once a week, all year round, our volunteers gather to cook and hand out warm meals to homeless and vulnerable people. The food matters — but the encounter matters just as much. Being seen, greeted and listened to is part of the dignity we want to give back.
The work is entirely volunteer-run and funded by donations. If you'd like to contribute time or funds, we'd love to hear from you.
Ongoing planning: We are mapping key government agencies and established NGOs working on homelessness in Sweden to strengthen coordination, identify synergies, and avoid duplication of efforts. Our goal is to help ensure that people experiencing homelessness receive timely, adequate support and that, where possible, coordinated action also contributes to preventing and reducing homelessness.
Service in San Miguel, Mexico
Our work in Mexico is already underway. Around San Miguel de Allende we are building practical partnerships in education, health and community support — meeting real needs with steady, long-term presence. The primary-care pilot and community presence are an ongoing plan we have been mapping since April 2026.

Partnership with Casa Hogar Mexiquito
We support Casa Hogar Mexiquito by helping cover part of their activities. Current support includes IT education — intranet cabling, new computers and upgrades of older equipment — as well as financing teaching costs. Ongoing plans include better lighting, camera-based security, heating and cooling for certain rooms, and volunteer presence in social activities to help the children strengthen their social skills.

Primary-care pilot with Salud
Together with the local health authorities (Salud) we are developing a pilot at a rural UMAPS primary-care clinic serving around 5,000 residents. The first phase focuses on chronic diseases — diabetes and hypertension — followed by COPD. We also support dental care for the local population through mobile screening teams and a stationary dental unit at the Salud / UMAPS site.

Community presence and social care
By being present in the area we can identify social hardship and look for solutions — either by collaborating with DIF (Mexico's family services agency) or by financing direct interventions. Around the pilot project we are finding important needs in local schools, where small improvements can make a big difference for children and families. One concrete idea we are exploring is an electronic link between schools and the UMAPS clinic so that children's height and weight measurements, taken at school twice a year, can be shared securely with the clinic. This would help UMAPS spot growth deviations early and act sooner.

This work is made possible through the support of our partners Fundación Nur and the international Sufi Service Committee, who share our vision of long-term, heart-led service in the region.
